The attorney

Jared J.
McCabe

Most of the work starts the same way: something in the business stopped working, and the paperwork does not answer the question. Jared advises Tampa owners, founders and partners on structure, governance and disputes, and has been admitted to The Florida Bar since 2012.

The McCabe Law Firm office in Tampa

He began in the Hillsborough County Public Defender’s Office, trying cases at a volume most lawyers never see. That teaches you early what a record looks like when someone else reads it back to you.

Most of what he is asked to fix was avoidable a year earlier, and almost none of it was avoidable a year later. So the practice is built around having the hard conversation early, in plain language, before it becomes an expensive one.

The McCabe Law Firm, PLLC is a boutique Tampa practice serving business owners, CEOs, investors, partners and early-stage founders. The caseload is kept intentionally small, so the person reading your operating agreement is the person you spoke to. In selected early-stage matters, equity may be accepted alongside or in place of traditional fees.

Jared serves clients in English and Spanish. He is also writing a manuscript drawn from more than a decade of work inside the law.

Torrens v. Shaw

No. 1D18-3600 (Fla. 1st DCA 2018)

In 2018 a circuit court removed a candidate for Florida Attorney General from the primary ballot, over allegations about the source of the money in his campaign account.

Jared took the case to Florida's First District Court of Appeal, with co-counsel DPW Legal, and the judgment was reversed. The court held that a political opponent has no standing to enforce Florida's campaign finance statutes — that authority sits with the Florida Elections Commission — and that an alleged contribution violation does not undo an otherwise proper qualification.
